Movie – The Fourth Kind

Ok, I am a huge sci-fi and B-rated movie buff.  And I love the home- video movies, I.e., The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, Grave Encounters, etc. But believing them? Not me. However, Mila Jokovich’s little warning at the beginning of this movie, The Fourth Kind, piqued my intrest. According to her, “every dramatized scene you see is based on authentic archives, either audio,  videos of hypnotherapy sessions, etc..”
Now, that’s all well and good, scare value and all that, but I did some research anyway.
The entire movie is fake. A great idea, interesting plot, it’s an enjoyable watch. But none of the “footage”, the tapes, none of it is real. Charlotte Milchard plays the “real Dr. Abigail Emily Tyler”, the psychologist/hypnotherapist the movie is really about. Mila Jokovich plays the actress playing the actress of “the real Dr. Tyler”, who,  in reality, was never on film.
It’s the same with all the other main characters, Dept. Ryan played by Mike Straub amd Eric Loren, Tommy Fisher played by Andrew Whipp and Corey Johnson, and so on, so forth.
All of that aside, the only reality the movie is based on is a series of disappearances in the city of Nome, where the plot is set.
Between the 1960’s and 2000’s, 24 people either disappeared entirely, or were found dead under suspicious circumstances. The FBI investigated, and blamed the death and disappearances on “copious amounts of alcohol consumption, and harsh winter climate”
……………alcohol and cold make people wander off?
…………………..if alcohol was the cause of death, wouldn’t that show on a blood test/tox-screen? So if that’s the case, why would the circumstances be suspicious?

It’s too much of a stretch for me to think “alien abduction”, but alcohol? Cold? Really? I don’t believe it.

I’d love to know what anyone else thinks on the subject. Please comment if you have an opinion. Or if you read “spoilers” in Melody Pond’s voice.
